Availability

Oma’s House is one of the few daycares/childcare centers in Oak Ridge and the surrounding areas that does part-time care, all year round.

Part time care means anything less than a full week (5 days).
It does not mean 'drop in' random babysitting.

All of these are examples of part time care:

  • Care only on Monday
  • Care for Tuesday & Wednesday
  • Care every other Monday and Tuesday.

Please see the categories below for the many specific ways Oma’s House is available to you!

Ages

Oma’s House accepts children as young as 6 weeks, but they must be able to take a bottle (if breastfed). The maximum age for Oma’s House is 4; however, most are 2 and under.

For safety, children who exhibit repetitive negative, harmful, or destructive behavior like biting, hitting, jumping/climbing onto furniture, or throwing things in the house will be disenrolled.

Appointments

Saturday appointments are for ‘meet and greets.’ You get to see the dedicated children spaces and we both get to know each other a bit.

Keep in mind that even with the best of intentions, one or both of us may determine that Oma’s House isn’t a ‘good fit’ for your child, even after starting child care services.

This is why Oma’s House is an ‘at will’ daycare, which means either party may stop at any time for any reason. A notice may be given if possible, but is not required.

Contact us to schedule one at your convenience.

Sick Policy

I will notify you as soon as possible if I become ill. It is your responsibility to have a back up plan. You will not have to pay for my sick day.

If your child becomes ill in my care (fever, vomiting, rash…), I will contact you right away and expect prompt pick up. Children who have been ill must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning. You are responsible for payment even when your child is sick.

Emergency/Back Up

If I have an emergency, or a short-term appointment, my back-up plan is my husband. He’s qualified like me: a parent and grandparent, and has a clean TBI background check. He also has over 30 years of teaching martial arts to children in preschools and private elementary schools (in Tennessee, Virginia, and California).
