Facilities

At Oma’s House, children’s safety comes first, which also means keeping things as clean as possible. So everyone is expected to remove their shoes beyond the tiled foyer. Our family and friends do this too!

I have two dedicated rooms just for Oma’s House. One is called the ‘play room’ and the other is referred to as the ‘nap room.’

Play Room

The play room is where we spend most of the day. It contains the inside toys such as blocks, stuffed animals, board games, puzzles, and the ball pit.

It also has child-size bean bag chairs and a mounted TV for child-appropriate media. The room is complete with cushioned mats, easy on little knees and hands.

Nap Room

The nap room is where the infants sleep and where diapers are changed.

The infant play mats, bouncy chairs, and toys are moved to the playroom when infants are awake and active. The nap room also has a wall-mounted TV used for quiet music/sleep sounds to aid infant napping.

Fenced Backyard

At Oma’s House, we’re able to play outside safely since the backyard is completely enclosed with a (nearly new) 6 ft. fence!

Toddlers enjoy the toddler-sized basketball hoop, slide, and bubble mower, while infants are entertained on blankets and walked around the yard.

Safety

Your child’s safety is paramount. For this reason, the nap and play rooms are specifically tailored for them.

However, there are other parts of my home that children use, even for short durations, such as the foyer at drop offs and pick ups, and the hallway/common areas between the nap and play rooms.

Therefore, we’ve taken these extra precautions:

  • Safety gates are utilized in common areas.
  • All lower cabinets have child safety locks.
  • All window sills and table edges have cushion guards.
  • Doors have child proof door knob covers, including all accessible doors to outside.
  • Electrical outlets and surge protector power strips have child proof covers; tv mount cords are covered.
  • There are working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and a fire extinguisher in the kitchen.
  • There are non-recording cameras in the nap and play rooms to monitor children when I am in the restroom, preparing meals and snacks, doing drop offs/pick ups, and so on.
  • I have Ring doorbells for home security.
  • In addition, I have taken teacher-mandated Emergency/First Aid/CPR safety courses.

As well, Oma’s House is smoke free and pet free.
